A few years ago, I read a quote that completely transformed the way that I process things that happen in my life. I used to cling really hard to specific time frames when everything was going in my direction. There are certain flashes of time when everything was in a, “Sweet spot.” It happens when all of the seeds you planted bloom at the exact moment and everything falls into place.
The majority of the disappointment that people feel is when their expectation doesn’t match what actually happened. It’s what we all strive for but it’s magic when it actually unfolds the way that you want it. It’s the perfect trifecta when everything is going how you want it to. For me, it’s when my career is in a place where it doesn’t feel like work and creativity flows freely. Deadlines aren’t an issue because I am struck with the energy to get things done. When your body and mind are in harmony, the relationships around you are too.
This is usually when my head goes, “Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! Don’t mess this up!” The second my brain does that, I tend to self-sabotage. It’s not even about doing actions that make things go wrong. It’s simply that once my energy is in a desperate place to hold onto something, it all tends to fall apart. One day, in one of those moments, I came across this quote...
“Don’t try to recreate peak experiences. Instead, just accept them as the gift that they are, and don’t beat up on yourself for not being able to stay there. Because if you stayed there, they wouldn’t be peak experiences. They would be normal, every day in time hum drum boring, experiences. So, savor the peak experiences and compliment yourself upon your achieving of them, and expect more of them, and leave everything else out of the equation.” - Abraham Hicks
Once I was able to identify what a “peak experience” was, I accepted that there would be valleys. When I’m in the low vibrational place of a valley, I always know that a peak is on the way. After reading this quote, it was the type that I felt on a cellular level. I felt my heart and mind do a huge exhale because I knew that I no longer needed to hold so tightly to them. For if they were always there, it would no longer be a peak. It would simply be a flat road.
A huge reason that I believe in Presence is that when you constantly surround yourself with little gems of positivity, it starts to reverberate throughout your day. When I constantly surround myself with uplifting thoughts, I am able to propel forward stronger than before.
